Aimed at people involved in civil procedures in the Thurgau courts, the Handbook on the Thurgau Code of Civil Procedure is a handy publication which explains individual provisions of the Code and current judicial practice. It is designed to enable lawyers, judges and interested members of the public to find their way around the Code as effectively and quickly as possible.
In order to achieve this aim, the authors have included a summary and list of contents, list of abbreviations, bibliography, list of legal principles, lawyers' fees and court fees, as well as an index.
In their commentary on the Code, the authors, who are partners in a Frauenfeld lawyers' chambers, deal primarily with the decisions of the Thurgau Court of Appeal, which are published in annual reports. They also take into account the Appeal Court's instructions to the district courts. Academic commentaries and specialist literature are only mentioned if they appear useful for the purpose of comparisons, further reference or if there is a lack of previous rulings at cantonal level.
The book takes into account cases up to and including the 1999 annual report. The text of the Code is included (version of 1 January 2000).
